CRAWFORD STATE PARK CABIN DEDICATION APRIL 24
Cookout, park and hatchery tours, cabin open house to highlight opening
FARLINGTON — On April 24, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) will dedicate the opening of its latest park addition, three new rental cabins at Crawford State Park's Evening Breeze Point. No park entrance fees will be required for the day's events, which include a cabin open house, a tour of Farlington Fish Hatchery, tours of Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) trails, kids fishing, an old fashioned cookout, and the official cabin dedication.
Park staff will be available to give personal tours and provide user information on cabins from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. At 10 a.m., those wishing to participate in the hatchery tour will meet at the hatchery, located below the dam at the park. CCC trail tours will take place from 10 a.m. to noon, when several collected artifacts from the camp will be available for public viewing. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., KDWP staff will be at Evening Breeze Point with fishing poles and bait for anyone to use. Youth and novice anglers are encouraged. Basic instruction and help baiting hooks will be provided for those who have never fished. Anyone 16 and older will need a valid Kansas fishing license to participate.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., visitors will be treated to an old fashion lake cook-out served by the Friends of Crawford State Park and the Lake Crawford Marina. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be available by the cabins.
The dedication ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. to pay tribute to Clayton A. "Bud" Walker who provided the initial donation that made these cabins possible. Several local and national politicians have been invited to speak.
Shuttle service will be available from the beach parking lot to Evening Breeze Point from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. For more information, phone the park at 620-362-3671 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
