Cheyenne Bottoms Waterfowl Report
|Waterfowl numbers||Spring has sprung! Species composition is changing as the migration proceeds. We estimate between 70,000 to 140,000 total ducks, mostly mallards and pintails. Widgeon numbers have increased, as have many other species. We estimate goose numbers to be between 5,000 and 10,000 with the majority Canada geese. Goose numbers vary greatly between days and even during the day.|
|Water level||Pools 1A is about 16 inches, 1B and 1C each are at 23 inches. Pool 2 is near 15.5 inches, Pools 3A is about 10.5 inches, 3B is about 13, 4A is near 15 inches, and Pool 4B is about 15 inches and Pool 5 is about 9.5 inches.|
|Hunting conditions||The forecast is for temperatures to remain very mild through early next week.|
|Expected hunting success||Light goose conservation order hunters have been very few. Hunter success low.|
Hunters are encouraged to use the electronic Daily Hunt Permit system being introduced this year. This will eventually replace the paper permits.

ONCE REGISTERED, HUNTERS WILL BE ABLE TO CALL OR LOG ONTO THE SYSTEM SEPTEMBER 1 AND GET THEIR PERMIT FOR THE DOVE OPENER. THEY CAN ALSO VISIT THE CHEYENNE BOTTOMS WILDLIFE AREA PAGE ON iSPORTSMAN AT https://kdwpt.isportsman.net/Locations/Cheyenne_Bottoms.aspx
PAPER PERMITS WILL STILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE INFORMATION CENTERS, HOWEVER, WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO USE THE iSPORTSMAN ELECTRONIC CHECK-IN SYSTEM AS IT WILL BE USED EXCLUSEIVELY IN FOLLOWING YEARS.
