The arrival of winter does not mean all activities have come to a stop at Pottawatomie State Fishing Lake #2! Winter months offer a great opportunity to witness the winter waterfowl migration! Pott.2 will hold a couple hundred geese as well as a handful of migrating ducks. Most of the geese observed on the area are Canada Geese with a few Specs and Snow/Ross’s stopping in from time-to-time. You can also expect to see a variety of ducks and small water birds to include: Mallard, Gadwall, Wigeon, Teal, Shoveler, Goldeneye, Bufflehead, Snowy Egret, Night-Heron, Great Egret and Double-Crested Cormorant. These are just a few of the many birds that will be stopping in for a visit. So dust off those binoculars and come out to the area to observe some of winter’s visitors!
