Fishing Report - Last Update: 9/15/2014
|Species||Rating||Size||Baits, Method, & Location|
|Channel Catfish||Good||Up to 2-3 lbs||Prepared baits, dough baits and even hot dogs will catch Channel Catfish in the Wichita Area. Chisholm North, Watson and the KDOT lakes are excellent for Catfish.|
|White Crappie||Good||Up to 12"||Use small jigs or a minnow and fish around brush piles close to the shoreline. Crappie are best at the KDOT Lakes, Watson Park, K-96 lake and Chisholm North lake.|
|Largemouth Bass||Good||Up to 18"||Bass fishing in Wichita can be found at any of the lakes, but the best reports come from the KDOT lakes, Emery Park, Blackbird and Sunflower Ponds and Chisholm north lake. Use large spinning lures and fish around logs and woody debris or near standing vegetation.|
|Bluegill||Good||Up to 1 lb||Sunfish are a great choice when other fishing gets a little slow. A simple small piece of worm fished under a bobber near the shore will yield the best catches. Bluegill are present in every lake in the area, but are especially good at Blackbird and Sunflower ponds, Chisholm North lake, and Emery Park Pond.|
Channel Catfish are planned for stocking on these dates: April 9/10, 24/25. May 8/9, 22. June 5/6, 26/27. July 10/11, 24. August 7/8, 28. Sept 11/12, 25. These dates may vary slightly, and not all lakes in the Wichita area are stocked on each day. For more information see our Fish Stocking Page.
