Species Rating Size Baits, Method, & Location
Bluegill Fair Up to 8 inches Fall netting indicated a low to moderate abundance of bluegill in 2013. Bluegill size structure was dominated by small individuals.
Channel Catfish Fair Up to 14 lb. Low to moderate numbers of channel catfish were captured during fall netting in 2013. Some large (20+ inches) catfish should be available to anglers in 2014.
Saugeye Fair Up to 3 lb. Fall netting indicated a low abundance of saugeye in 2013. However some larger saugeye should be available to anglers in 2014 as our biggest saugeye captured was 22 inches in length.
Crappie Fair Up to 12 inches Fall netting indicated a low abundance of crappie in 2013. However, it is believed that crappie are underrepresented in the fall netting surveys at Gardner Lake.
Largemouth Bass Fair Up to 4 lbs Spring electrofishing indicated a good abundance of largemouth bass. The bass population continues to show signs of rebounding from largemouth bass virus that was detected in 2008. Our largest bass captured in 2013 was 5.5 lbs.
