MILFORD LAKE TO HOST EXTREME WATER FESTIVAL AUG. 18TH

Milford Lake will host the first annual Extreme Outdoor Water Festival on August 18th. This free event is open to the public and will be held at the Milford State Park, south boat ramp from 10 am to 4 pm. Although the event itself is free, a vehicle day pass is required to enter Milford State Park.

A variety of free, hands-on activities will be available. More than 40 local and military organizations and agencies will be participating in this event with booths and displays.

Special activities include a Youth Triathlon for kids 9 through 14, which will be held in Outlet Park below the Milford Dam from 7–10 a.m. Pre-registration forms and further details can be found here. While on that web site be sure and pull off the rules for both the “Float Your Boat” contest and the Sand Castle/Sculpture contest. Can your family build a boat out of cardboard, packing or duct tape and float two people on a set course to win cash prizes? This event will run from 1-3 pm. If your family is more artistic, maybe the sand sculpting contest is for you.

A food and drink vendor will help to make the day complete as you watch divers retrieve a sunken car, or watch Life Star fly in and land around 12 noon. Don’t forget to dunk a celebrity at the dunk tank, learn how to make a canoe/kayak, or stop by KSNT 27 to check on weather conditions. Bring your boat and have the Coast Guard Auxiliary give it a free courtesy safety inspection and above all, be prepared to have some “Extreme” fun!
