Spring food plot work is now taking place in preparation for the 2012 fall hunting season. The food plots will consist of 6 acres of wheat planted among 7 acres of sunflowers. The plots on Bolton Wildlife Area are managed primarily for dove attraction. The dove harvest has been on the increase over the past three years with 2011 having a harvest of nearly 800 doves in the first couple days of season!

Patch-burn grazing continues on the Bolton Wildlife Area. Nearly 200 acres were burned on March 9th in preparation for the 2012 grazing season. 600lb stockers will be turned out on the area starting May 1st and will remain on the property through the end of August.

Mulberry Creek holds a host of small fish species and even a few bass that can be hooked if tempted by an angler! The pond located just south of the food plots is full of bass and can offer a great opportunity to introduce a youngster to the sport of fishing!
