Grant Applications

The application period for the Recreational Trails Grant closes August 1, 2010 for grants to be awarded in Federal Fiscal Year 2011. However, potential sponsors should be aware that the current trails program authorization officially ended September 30, 2009. It was extended for 2010 as part of a continuing budget authorization. Congress is working on an authorization plan, but nothing is eminent. It is possible that the program could simply go away, but there is very high public support for a trails grant program. The rules and even the funding source and amount could change.

We will continue to accept grant applications and hold them until we know what the program will look like for 2011. We encourage all to prepare and submit their applications (downloadable below) based on the current guidelines which will allow us to be ready to complete the grant process when and if the program is reauthorized. If the rules and guidelines change, we will notify all applicants on hand and allow time to make the adjustments or revisions. The timetable for grant awards will also be adjusted as necessary.

The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) is NOT accepting applications for Federal grants from the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Federal funding has been extremely limited this year, and no local side funding is available.
