Species

Rating

Size

Baits, Method, & Location

Channel Catfish

Fair

15-22 inches

Some anglers have luck in winter months on exceptionally stinky baits such as rotten shad sides and prepared blood baits.

Largemouth Bass

Fair

8-16 inches

Try reaction baits on sunny, warm afternoons. Jigs and soft plastics fished slow around structure can be productive on cooler days.

Crappie

Fair

8-10 inches

Crappie can be caught around deep structure in winter. They generally suspend around 8-12 feet of water on structure or channel edges.

Bluegill/Redear Sunfish

Fair

6-10 inches

Bluegill and redear sunfish are abundant in Montgomery State Fishing Lake and present good angling opportunities. Look for fish near woody structure or along shorelines on warm days.

General Comments

Anglers should note that there are no alcoholic beverages allowed on the area.
