Fish around any brush or vegetation you can find as well as drop-offs. Minnows, or jigs, about 20 inches under a small bobber are pretty good |

Try trolling jigs and crankbaits, or shrimp fished on the bottom. You can also try casting slab spoons and bucktail jigs over shallow water. The larger wipers are chasing shad right now. Another thing you can try is drifting live shad, sunfish or minnows. |

General Comments |

With the warmer temperatures, fishing should begin to improve. Crappie should be moving out of the deeper water and begin to move towards the shallows. Try for them using small jigs and minnows along the vegetation, rocks and brushpiles. Try for channel catfish using prepared stinkbait, worms or liver. Try for largemouth bass with jigs, spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Try for wipers using a jigs or frozen shrimp on the bottom or drifted with the wind. Try for bluegill using small jigs, or a cricket or piece of worm under a bobber. ATTENTION: KDWPT released the recently completed “Kansas Crappie Bonanza” video on February 17, 2012. This 25-minute video covers Kansas crappie fishing during spring, summer, fall, and winter with tips and tactics to make you a better crappie angler. Visit the KDWPT homepage and click on the Kansas Crappie Bonanza link to view the video! REMEMBER: Zebra mussel veligers (larval zebra mussels) are too small to be seen with the unaided eye and they can be found in boat livewells, minnow buckets, boat bilges, water toys and anything else that is capable of holding even a small amount of water. Be sure to drain all equipment before leaving the lake to avoid moving veligers to other waters. THIS INCLUDES MINNOW BUCKETS AND BOAT LIVEWELLS AND BILGES!!! CLEAN DRAIN & DRY Every Lake, Every Time! Click HERE to learn how to prevent the spread of zebra mussels. Local fishing reports depend on information from local anglers themselves.
