Perry News Letter Good to Excellent 4 pages (lots of pics) Twice a year I will be publishing a newsletter with Perry and other waters in my District. The newest issue is available now and features Perry and Holton Banner Creek. If you would like the newsletter e-mailed to you click on Perry/Banner Creek newsletter and fill in the blanks. I'll be working on a new one very shortly!
Black Crappie Fair-Good up to 1.0 lbs Tube jigs tipped with minnows in structure, these guys are done spawning and have scattered for the summer.
Bluegill Fair-Good up to 0.5 lbs Small jig or spinner tipped with a hunk of worm around the shallow brush and weed edges.  Made time to work on May electrofishing data: sampled 217 bluegill in 1.36 hours of electrofishing time, largest was 8" and weighed 0.52 lbs.  There were bunches of 6" or greater bluegill and they all were in good body condition.
Channel Catfish Fair-Good up to 11.0 lbs Shad sides are great this time of year, fish them shallow on the wind swept banks.  Late night fishing will produce some fish.
Largemouth Bass Fair-Good up to 5.0 lbs. Large jigs or spinners worked slow around the shallow brush and weed edges.  A little top water will put a pop in your fishing trip.  We sampled 168 lm bass in 1.36 hrs of electrofishing or 120 Stock length (8" or greater) fish/hr.  The largest bass we sampled was 5.65 lbs, all of these fish were in good body condition.
Walleye Fair up to 3.0 lbs. Stocked 300,000 walleye fry in April, will be several years before they are keeper size. Twisters off of the points either side of the pump house cove, fish are feeding like crazy now.  Try a little drifting on a less windy day.
Wiper Fair up to 5.0 lbs. Large twisters or shad at the mouth of the cove on the east side.  Lots of young gizzard being attacked on the surface!
