Species Rating Size Baits, Method, & Location
Black Bass Fair 1 to 5 pounds The lake has a good smallmouth bass population. The dam and along the East bank tends to be the best places for smallmouth.  
Crappie Slow 1/2 to 1 pound The lake has very good numbers of fish around 10" to 11" long. Not many being caught yet this spring, but things should pick up soon....
Channel Catfish Slow 1/2 to 6 pounds No recent reports.
Walleye Slow 1 to 5 pounds Walleye numbers are down this year.  Walleye regulations are 2 a day and a 15 inch lenght limit.
White Bass Good 1/2 to 2 pounds White bass are up shallow for spawning and there has been some good reports of harvest.
Wipers Fair 1 to 12 pounds A few being caught along the dam or near the inlet.  The lake has good numbers of 16-22" wipers with a few bigger ones around. The daily creel limit for wipers is 2.
General Comments

Anglers need to check into the Jeffrey Energy Center Guard House located north of St. Mary's, then west off K-63 Hwy. The Jeffrey Energy Center allows 30 anglers to fish at any one time. If the inlet is flowing, then good fishing can be found there. As of April 14th, the lake was full and the boat ramp was usuable.

Zebra mussels have infested Make-Up Lake. The lake has been designated as a Aquatic Nuisance Species water. It is illegal to transport alive fish from ANS designated waters. To help prevent the spread of invasive species, please CLEAN, DRAIN & DRY all equipment when changing water bodies and dump your bait.

Black Bass Good Up to 5 lbs Lots of smallmouth bass being caught!  The dam is usually the best spot.
Channel Catfish Slow Up to 8 lbs No recent reports of much catfish harvest.
Walleye Slow to Fair Up to 6 lbs A few being caught, but still slow so far this spring.
White Bass Good Up to 18" The lake has good numbers of big white bass.  Anglers have been catching them up shallow as the fish are looking to spawn. 
Wiper Fair to Good Up to 8 lbs The lake has moderate numbers of nice sized wipers.  A few being caught with the white bass.
