2014 Fishing Forecast  
Walleye Fair Up to 10 lbs. Fall netting indicated a low abundance of walleye. The biggest walleye captured during fall netting was 6 lbs.
Crappie Fair to Good Fish are 9 to 11 inches and few up to 13 inches Good numbers of crappie were captured during fall netting. Try fishing jigs or minnows near brushpiles or fishing along rocky areas during the spawn.
White Bass Fair to Good Up to 2 lbs. Fall netting indicated a moderate abundance of white bass. Most of the white bass captured were 12-15 inches in length. Try fishing jigs off mainlake points for white bass.



Fair Up to 4 lbs. Spring electrofishing indicated a low abundance of largemouth bass. Some larger bass are available to anglers as the biggest bass captured was 5 lbs. A research project aimed at improving the bass population will be continued in 2014 at Hillsdale Reservoir.

Crappie  Good Fish are 9 to 11 inches and few up to 13 inches A few crappie are being taken on jigs or minnows in the marina arm and in timber near Marysville boat ramp to the causeway.  A few fish shallower near standing timber. 
Walleye Fair Up to 8 lbs. Jigs tipped with nightcrawlers, slabs or deep diving crank baits near deep channels or drop offs. 
Catfish  Fair to Good  Up to 10 lbs. Channels and flatheads continue to be taken on a variety of baits using the traditional prepared or live baits on pole & line and set lines.  
White Bass Fair/Good Majority of the population is 12-15 inches White bass can be taken on a wide range of shad imitation lures. A few fish are being taken along east shore near Windsurfer Beach and near Hillsdale Point. 
General Comments

WATER LEVEL: As of November 17th the water level is 0.5 ft. above conservation pool.  You can check current water conditions at http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/DistrictLakes/HillsdaleLake/DailyLakeInformation.aspx

Looks like conditions might be favorable this winter for ice-fishing opportunities.  Remember exercise good judgement about ice conditions and bring along necessary safety equipment (e.g., ice pick, life jacket, extra dry clothes).  Four inches of clear, new ice will usually be safe for fishing, but be cautious and remember ice weakens as it refreezes.
