This is a generic fishing report/2012 forecast that will be in place until spring.

Bluegill/redear

Catch rates for these two sunfish species were good. Most of the larger fish were 6-8". Both can be expected to supply fair angling in 2012. Right now fish can be caught using mealworms, small spinners and jigs over deepwater structure.

Channel catfish

Catch rate was down a little from 2010, but number observed in 2011 was still high. Channel catfish angling should be good in 2012.

Largemouth bass

High numbers of small bass continue to characterize this fishery. Fishing for bass is rated fair due to lack of size, even though number of bass present is great. Due to high numbers of bass this is a great place to take kids to fish. Bass can be caught on virtually any bait, with many being caught on minnows, worms, small spinners, and jigs.

Crappie

The crappie fishery continues to build. Anglers began to catch some in 2011. As the fishery matures it should get better. Currently, I would rate the fishery fair at best. These fish can be caught off deepwater cover using minnows, spoons and jigs.
