There are three options obtain your Kansas Boater Safety Education Certification. Classroom, home study, and online. Home study and online courses are offered because classes are not always available or students may not be able to attend specific dates and times. These two options are not meant to be easy or quick, their intent is to be convenient. Students may study at home at their own pace and complete the exam when they feel comfortable with the material. Home study and online certification both utilize an online course for study, the difference is how the exam is completed. NASBLA (National Association of State Boating Law Administrators) standards require that all online courses are at least three hours in duration and each section must be completed. The pages are timed and bypassing material is not an option. The purpose of the course is to gain knowledge and become a safer boater while you earn your certification.
The home study course is free of charge and is available by download. There is NO CHARGE to complete the course, you will only be charged a fee if you decide to complete the exam online and have a temporary certificate printed for immediate use.
To study for the home study exam, please visit www.boat-ed.com/kansas/ and create a free account. The online course is timed and must take at least three hours to complete in order to meet the national standards for certification. Each page has a timer and will not allow you to skip ahead, you must complete the entire course.
