The first two hours of the class, as well as the final test/certification will be at the Church, 612 N Thompson St. Field Day activities (live fire, gun handling and trail walk) will take place at the Pratt Gun Club. 

Students must complete the online portion of the course prior to attending the field day. The online course is accessed by links at http://kdwpt.state.ks.us/news/Services/Education/Hunter/Internet-assisted-Course. Each student will be issued a pre-test over the online materials.  This pre-test will be administered at the beginning of the Field Day. A passing score of 22 correct answers out of 25 questions is required to proceed with the rest of the course. Students failing to achieve the minimum score of 22 will be dismissed from the class.
The field walk session will be as much like an actual hunt as possible. It is recommended to wear boots or walking shoes and long pants. 

You will be required to participate in all portions of this class. Outdoor activities at the gun club will involve live fire (20 gauge shotguns), gun handling and a trail walk. The trail walk is a simulated hunt in typical Kansas upland bird cover. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear. You will be miserable in shorts and flip flops! Bring your own lunch, sunscreen, insect repellent, sunglasses and hat. Don't forget to bring your qualifying exam and be prepared for the 25 question pretest.

Location Notes:  To get to the Police Range, proceed west on 10th Street to Patton Road. From 10th Street and Patton Road, continue west on 10th Street approximately 3 miles. You will proceed past Fuller Brush and the entrance to the Great Bend Expo/Dragstrip entrance. Continue west on 10th Street to the end of the cedar tree belt to an asphalt road, which is Avenue K, heading back to the south. Take that road south to the police range which is on the west side of the road.

Use the parking lot on the West side and enter the West door of the South Room. Orange Hunter Education signs will be posted at the South Room West Door. 

Instructor Notes for Students: We will complete all reviews and written tests @ the Grant County Civic Center starting @ 9:00 a.m. Once completed we will transfer to the Ulysses Gun Club to complete the field day and shooting activities.
