2013 Dove Management Fields and Maps

All 4 designated dove management areas described below which have maps provided on the WA webpage will require NON-TOXIC SHOT for the 2013 DOVE SEASON. This includes all areas within ¼ mile of managed fields. There are other, less intensively managed locations on the WA that will still offer dove opportunities, where non-toxic shot will not be required. Most of these other areas will have wheat that has been burned or lightly disked. All dove areas will have mowed parking areas and mowed walking trails to the fields.

County Line Fields- 3 miles east of Downs and south of highway 24. One 20 acre sunflower field near the south parking lot and one 10 acre wheat field near the highway. Prospects for this field are GOOD.

Cawker City Fields- 1 mile south/ southwest of Cawker City just south of the old airport location. One 16 acre sunflower field and one 10 acre wheat field. This FIELD WILL BE RESERVED ON THE MORNING OF SEPTEMBER 1 FOR OUR YOUTH DOVE HUNT. At noon on Sept. 1 the field will open to Youth and Mentor Hunting until Sept. 8. During this time adults may only hunt the field if they have a youth 17 or younger hunting with them. On Sept. 9 the field will be open to all hunters for the remainder of the season. Hunters may park at the grain bins south of Cawker City and walk over the dike to the field, or they can use the parking area 1/4 mile south of Hwy 24 immediately west of Cawker City. Prospects for this field are GOOD.

Mill Creek Fields- 4 miles south and 1 ¼ mile east of Cawker City. 2 sunflower fields (1 on each side of the road) that total 15 acres. There is a parking area just west of the creek near the south field. Prospects for this field are GOOD.

West Granite Creek Fields- ¼ mile north of Highway 24 on the west side of Granite Creek Cove. 4 sunflower fields that total 24 acres and one 10 acre wheat field located north of C Rd. on the far north end of the property. Prospects for these fields are FAIR.

Mandatory Hunter Survey Cards will be required during the first few days of the dove hunting season and will be available at each field.
