Species Rating Size Baits, Method, & Location
Channel Catfish Fair Variety Fish dead shad in shallow, warming water.
Crappie Fair Variety of Sizes - mostly 11 to 12 inches Fish are moving towards rocks on nice days. Fish with minnows and jig around any cover or rocks.
Trout Fair   The last stocking for the year occurred on the 11th of March.  Please call Jeff at the Cheney Wildlife Area (620-459-6922) for questions regarding trout stockings.
Walleye/Saugeye Fair Variety, up to 21" Look for saugeye around the dam and main lake points in April. Fishing can be productive for big fish on the dam during the spawn. Remember that keeping snagged fish is illegal.
White Bass Fair All sizes - up to 17 inches Look for white bass and wipers to make a river run if the reservoir gets some inflow.  Fish should be staging near the river or around the dam.
Wiper Fair All sizes No reports. Some big wipers have been mixed in with white bass and generally hang below their schools.
