Crappie are on the bank. Anglers have been catching good numbers of crappie, lately.

White bass

Anglers were doing good on the dam, but it has been somewhat inconsistent. Most white bass have been caught by anglers fishing for crappie on minnows and jigs.

Channel catfish

Fair-Good

2-9 lbs

Using fish eggs, minnows, jigs, and crankbaits..

Boat Ramp Condition

All OK, except Rock Creek ramp not usable, Wakarusa River ramp has at least one foot drop off at the end, Coon Creek ramp is fairly shallow.

Water level May 16 was 3.5 feet low, release rate = 21 cfs, temperature = 68 F. 3.5 million walleye and 700,000 sauger fry stocked in April. Be aware there are a lot of Asian Carp in the outlet, these fish are illegal to possess alive. Brushpiles placed into Clinton August 11 and 12, 2008. GPS locations in degrees, minutes, seconds using Datum WGS 84: 1) N38 55.755 W095 24.146, 2) N38 56.4444 W095 24.466, 3) N38 56.283 W095 23.465, 4) N38 56.014 W095 23.096, 5) N38 55.036 W095 22.568, 6) N38 56.011 W095 23.085, 7) N38 55.073 W095 22.565, 8) N38 55.785 W095 22.235.

Channel Catfish

Up to 10 lbs.

Fall netting indicated a moderate abundance of channel catfish. Some larger catfish are available to anglers as the biggest catfish captured was over 8 lbs.

Walleye

Fair/Good

Up to 10 lbs.

Fall netting indicated a low to moderate abundance of walleye. However, it is still believed that there is a good population of walleye at Hillsdale. The biggest walleye captured during fall netting was 7 lbs.

Crappie

Good

Fish are 9 to 11 inches and few up to 13 inches

Good numbers of crappie were captured during fall netting. Try fishing jigs or minnows near brushpiles or fishing along rocky areas during the spawn.

White Bass

Fair

Up to 2 lbs.

Fall netting indicated a moderate abundance of white bass. Most of the white bass captured were 12-15 inches in length. Try fishing jigs off mainlake points for white bass.

Largemouth
Bass

Fair

Up to 4 lbs.

Spring electrofishing indicated a low abundance of largemouth bass. Some larger bass are available to anglers as the biggest bass captured was over 3 lbs. A research project aimed at improving the bass population will be continued in 2013 at Hillsdale Reservoir.

Black bass

Good

up to 7 lbs

Smallmouth, largemouth, and spotted bass are all available to anglers in Milford. Smallmouth are most abundant, and provide a trophy opportunity. Largemouth are less abundant, but trophys are also present. Spotted bass are few in numbers, but provide a unique fishery. In combination, these species should provide good angling.

Catfish

Good

up to 50 lbs

Channel, blue, and flathead catfish are present in Milford. Blue cats provide both a trophy and abundant fishery, while channel cats offer good numbers of smaller fish. Flatheads also provide a trophy fishery of their own, although not as abundant as channels or blues. Together these 3 species offer good fishing to anglers.

Crappie

Good

.5-1.5lbs

Crappie numbers are good in Milford. Although most are smallish, keepers are present. Fishing can be good in Spring and late Fall/Winter when crappie become more concentrated.

Walleye

Good

up to 8 lbs

Walleye numbers are good in Milford. Many fish will be sub-legal, but there are still keepers available. Fishing along the dam during the spawn, drifting the flats in late Spring/early Summer, and summertime trolling are the most reliable methods.

White bass

Good

.5-2lbs

White bass of all sizes are available in Milford. Fishing the river and rocks in the Spring, jigging and trolling in early summer, and topwater in the late Summer/early Fall should be most productive.

Wiper

Good

up to 10 lbs

Wiper of all sizes are also abundant in Milford. In addition to the techniques for white bass listed above, live bait fishing for Wipers can produce real lunkers for those with appropriate tackle.

Zebra Mussels

Super Infectious!

Since the infestation was discovered in Oct. of 2007 these mussels have spread throughout the lake. It's up to all of us to make sure these are not spread to other area lakes, Clean-Drain-Dryeverything that is taken out of Perry. Mussels will be start spawning as the water temperature gets to around 54 degrees, I'll start water samples again this month!

Channel Catfish

Shad side and guts about anywhere but especially where the wind is blowing in and where the creeks are running in.

Sauger

Slow-Fair

up to 3.0 lbs.

Fish are in the feeding mood deep cranks off of those points along the west side down towards the dam. We had a great spring of collecting sauger, 5 million sauger eggs at Milford Hatchery and Saugeye production is nearly done. Collected lots of males from 14-18" and some females up to 3.0 lbs.

Largemouth Bass

Fair

up to 5.0 lbs.

On those warm sunny days fish some of that shallow brush with plastics or spinner baits. Check the usual spots.

White Bass

Fair

up to 2.0 lbs.

River is running a little raised the lake is only 3.25' low and a few might have crossed the low water dam at Valley Falls, should be good when the river clears. Twister or roadrunners of the rocky points, along the face of the dam, good bunch of them up at Hwy 92 waiting for some water so they can run up the river.

White Crappie

Fair-Good

up to 1.5 lbs.

It is time to be fishing! Fish are moving shallow to spawn, 2-4' of water on tube jigs or minnows. Electrofished a little in Rock Creek Tuesday and there were pretty good numbers of fish shallow.

Blue Catfish

Slow

up to 2 lbs.

Remember to turn all those blue cats less than 35" back so we can have some trophy catfish.

We have 20 tagged fish in Perry that could be worth millions to YOU, check out the Cabela's website! The redbuds are popping so the white bass should be flopping, oh yeah look for the mushrooms too! Currently the lake is down 2.5' and all boat ramps are usuable. Be very careful out there, lots of obsticles.

Stocked 1,000,000 sauger fry, be a little while before these guys can get a hook in their mouth!

Zebra mussels were confirmed on 10-9-07, so make sure you clean, drain and dry your boat after leaving Perry.

Crappie

Excellent

1/2 to 1.5 pounds

Largest crappie sample in 25 years. Tuttle has good numbers of crappie over 11 inches. Anglers have been doing really well the last few weeks on crappie over 11 inches. Most of the crappie have been caught in less than 6 feet of water on jigs or minnows. Stockdale Cove, Carnahan Cove, McIntire Cove, Marina Cove and the dam have all been good spots. Fishing should be good for spawning crappie through the rest of May.

White Bass

Fair

1/2 to 4 pounds

A few being caught along rocky banks or in the streams flowing into Tuttle.

Catfish

Fair

Up to 20 pounds

Channels catfish are being caught in shallow muddy areas of the reservoir or at the tubes below the dam. No reports of spawning activity yet, but the big cats should be up spawning in the rocks soon. Tuttle Creek does also support a low level blue catfish population.

Largemouth Bass

Fair

1 to 5 pounds

Coves in southern third of the Reservoir have some locally good largemouth bass populations. The McIntyre Cove area tends to produce the best fishing.

Saugeye

Fair to Good

Up to 6 pounds

Some are being caught shallow by crappie anglers in the reservoir. Also it has been good at the tubes. Good numbers of saugeye this year!

The lake has a fair bluegill population this year. Saw some nice big bluegill up shallow last week.

The lake has a low level catfish population.

Crappie

The lake has pretty good numbers of 8-10" crappie. Crappie have been biting good the last couple of weeks on minnows.

Largemouth Bass

1/2 to 5 pounds

The lake has excellent numbers of bass with most of the fish 12 to 15 inches.

This small 24 acre lake is similar to pond fishing. The lake is known for catch and release of largemouth bass and harvest of nice bluegill. The lake's channel catfish are protected by a 15 inch minimum length limit.

The lake has good numbers of both largemouth and smallmouth. Bass are shallow right now.

Channel Catfish

3/4 to 3 pounds

The lake is in the Urban Stocking Program and is frequently stocked with 12 to 18 inch channel catfish. This allows for good harvest rates of eater size channel catfish. 1,400 channel catfish were stocked on April 16th, for a total of 2,400 stocked this year. Good numbers of crappie are shallow right now around brush. Most are beening caught with minnows under a bobber.

Pott. # 2 is noted for family outings, scenic views, catch and release bass fishing, harvest of small crappie and channel catfishing. The channel cat population is maintained with frequent stockings of 12+ inch fish from March through September.

The lake has a excellent population of black bass over 15 inches. Nice bass can be found about anywhere at this lake. Bass have been real active the last week.

Lots of crappie at the lake this year. Along the dam or rock piers with minnows under a bobber.

Channel Catfish

1/2 - 4 pounds

The lake is in the Urban Stocking Program and is frequently stocked with 12 to 18 inch catfish. The second stocking of the year went in on May 8th. Located north of Silver Lake, Shawnee State Fishing Lake is the site of good catch and release largemouth bass fishing. The lake is also noted for channel catfish harvest since the lake receives frequent stockings of harvestable sized catfish from March through September. The Jeffrey Energy Center Lakes and Perry Reservoir both have zebra mussels and with Shawnee State Lake being close it is at high risk. Please, always clean your boat when moving to different water bodies.

The lake has a large bluegill population, but is dominated by small fish. Just North of the boat ramp is usually a good spot.

The lake has lots of crappie, but not too many over 10 inches. Crappie were shallow this week for spawning. Saw some big ones guarding nests. Along the dam or East bank tends to be the best spots.

The largemouth bass population has struggled in recent years and current numbers are low.

Saugeye

Up to 3 lbs

Recent saugeye samples have been poor.

Washington State Fishing Lake is back full.

Channel Catfish

Up to 12 pounds

The lake has good numbers of nice sized catfish. Along the dam right now.

White Bass

Fair

1/2 to 1 lb.

Low numbers this year, but they were up shallow this week along the dam spawning and fishing should be good.

Crappie

Good

1/2 to 1 pound

Highest sample numbers of crappie in over 10 years. Most of the crappie are below 10 inches, but fair numbers of larger crappie around. Crappie are still shallow.

Saugeye

Fair

2 to 8 lbs.

Casting crankbaits along the dam or road beds. Overall, saugeye numbers are down some. However, most of the population is over the 18 inch minimum length limit.

Largemouth Bass

Poor

1/2 to 5 pounds

Bass are few and far between at this lake, but they are big. Best places are the rock piers, standing timber and around the West boat ramp. Bass are covered by an 18 inch minimum lenght limit.

Centralia Lake is a 400 acre lake that is noted for good channel cat, white bass and crappie fishing. The lake facilities include multiple ramps, picnic tables, plenty of camping pads and many sites with electricity. Centralia is enrolled in the CFAP program, which means a City permit is not required for fishing visits. Perry Reservoir has zebra mussels and with Centralia Lake being close it is at high risk. Please, always clean your boat when moving to different water bodies.

Good numbers of crappie at the lake. The spawn is starting to wind down, but still fairly good. The cove just West of the boat ramp is a good place to catch spawners.

The lake does not have a lot of catfish, but they tend to be big.

This scenic lake is noted for largemouth bass fishing along the abundant shoreline weed beds during the spring and summer. Smallmouth bass are also available along the dam and rocky shoreline. Saugeye and crappie can also be taken at this 200 acre lake located in the flint hills. Since this lake is not part of the CFAP Program, annual or day use permits are available at the boat ramp bait house on the northeast shore. Expect to have your boat inspected for invasive species at the ramp. Always clean your boat when moving to different water bodies.

Good numbers of harvestable crappie are available to anglers. Best fishing should be in the Spring near cover on jigs and spinners. Summer fishing would be best using jigs and/or live bait near standing timber, the same for Winter.

Largemouth abundance is low, but best fishing is using lures near cover, and crankbaits along dam.

Walleye

Most walleye will be below the length limit. Good catch and release angling should be available throughout the fishing season with a few keepers present.

White bass abundance decreased slightly. Large white bass are available, and should be accessible throughout the year.

Tube jigs and minnow around the deeper brush, face of the dam, single lane boat ramp cove. Fishing will improve especially if the sun shines and the water heats up.

Bluegill

up to 0.3 lbs.

Small hunk of worm or spinner under a bobber around the brush piles off of the piers.

Channel Catfish

Fair

up to 10.0 lbs.

Shad sides and guts around the feeders and off the points. We'll get the feeders going in April.

Largemouth Bass

Fair

up to 4.0 lbs.

Plastics or spinner baits worked slow around the brush and standing timber, fish are moving shallow thinking about spawning.

Walleye/ Sauger

up to 3 lbs.

Fish are in the feeding mood, jigs and crawlers on the dropoffs.

Friday stocked 500,000 walleye fry and stocked 600,000 sauger fry few weeks ago, it will be a couple years before these guys reach eating size!

Nice numbers of smallmouth bass and a low level largemouth bass population. The dam and along the East bank are the best places for smallmouth.

Overall sample numbers are below average for the lake, but anglers have been doing pretty good. There is a brush pile just South of the fishing dock.

Channel Catfish

Walleye

Fair

1 to 5 pounds

Walleye are in less than 10 feet of water hitting worms or crankbaits. Walleye regulations are 2 a day and a 15 inch lenght limit.

White Bass

Good!

1/2 to 2 pounds

Lots of 12 inch white bass at the lake. The spawn is about over, but the males are still up shallow in the rocks. The inlet has also been good.

Wipers

Good

1 to 12 pounds

The lake has good numbers of 16-22" wipers with a few bigger ones around. The daily creel limit for wipers is 2. Have been busting the surface chasing shad.

Anglers need to check into the Jeffrey Energy Center Guard House located north of St. Mary's, then west off K-63 Hwy. The Jeffrey Energy Center allows 30 anglers to fish at any one time. If the inlet is flowing, then good fishing can be found there. As of April 22nd, the lake was full and the boat ramp was usable.

Zebra mussels were found at Make-Up Lake. Please CLEAN, DRAIN & DRY all equipment when changing water bodies.

The lake contains good numbers of catfish for a small lake.

Largemouth Bass

The lake has a large population that contains all sizes of fish, but the fishery is dominated by 12 to 15 inch bass.

This small 49 acre lake is located in northeast Pott. County. The fishing conditions are very similar to that of a large farm pond. The lake is noted for good catch and release largemouth bass fishing due to the abundance of the species. Bass 13 to 18 inches long are protected.

Lake has come up some however water is down several feet becareful out there! Larger boats may have to use the gravel ramp at the south end.

Stocked 200,000 walleye fry a few weeks ago, will be a couple of years before they are eating size!

Fishing for both channels and flathead have improved the last 2 weeks, with some nice fish being caught. Channels can be caught on minnows, worms, prepared bait and fresh cut bait. Flatheads can be taken on live baits and lures.

White Bass & Wipers

Good

1/2 to 1 pound

Fishing for white bass and wiper continues to be good.

To distinguish between the two species you can look at the tooth patch on the tongue. Wiper has two tooth patches. White bass has only one tooth patch. The fishing regs has good pictures for id. Wiper daily creel is 2.

Drum

Fair

1/2 to 3 lbs.

Drum are an abundant species that are taken on worms, minnows, and jigs.

Saugeye

Fair to Good

3/4 to 5 pounds

Anglers have been catching saugeye on jigs or crankbaits below the dam. There is a 15 inch minimum length limit on saugeye.

Rocky Ford , a river fishery, is located just south of the Tuttle Creek Dam on the Big Blue River. Anglers have the opportunity to harvest fishes generally associated with moving water. Saugeye, white bass, the catfishes, drum, crappie and carp can be harvested. Angler access and success is affected by release rates from the nearby Tuttle Creek Reservoir. This lake contains a good population of 6-8" bluegill. They are caught primarily on live bait near shallow water cover and rock.

Good numbers of smaller channel cats are caught lakewide on traditional catfish baits. Flatheads are caught along the rocky dam on live bait.

up to 14"

Crappie are abundant, some up to 14". They are caught on jigs and/or live bait near brush, primarily in the Spring and Winter.

Largemouth Bass

Largemouth bass are present, but in low numbers. They are caught near brush on artificials, and along the dam on crankbaits.

White bass

There are decent numbers of white bass currently available, some rather large. Most can be found in the creek and along the dam in the Spring and Fall. Best baits are jigs and spinners.

The lake has an excellent smallmouth bass population. They can be found along any of the rocky shoreline. Catch and release fishing has been good!

White bass are spawning strong right now. Lots of fish up shallow, especially in the flooded vegetation. Good numbers of 12" to 16" white bass this year.

Wiper

A nice population of wipers with most of them around 24".

A few being caught around the island and South end of the dam. Walleye regulations are 2 fish a day over 15".

Cats are shallow and feeding up. The lake has a decent catfish population, with most of them from 21" to 25".
