Students must complete the online portion of the course prior to attending the field day. The online course is accessed by links at http://kdwpt.state.ks.us/news/Services/Education/Hunter/Internet-assisted-Course. Each student will be issued a pre-test over the online materials. This pre-test will be administered at the beginning of the Field Day. A passing score of 22 correct answers out of 25 questions is required to proceed with the rest of the course. Students failing to achieve the minimum score of 22 will be dismissed from the class.
The field walk session will be as much like an actual hunt as possible. It is recommended to wear boots or walking shoes and long pants.
You will be required to participate in all portions of this class. Outdoor activities at the gun club will involve live fire (20 gauge shotguns), gun handling and a trail walk. The trail walk is a simulated hunt in typical Kansas upland bird cover. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear. You will be miserable in shorts and flip flops! Bring your own lunch, sunscreen, insect repellent, sunglasses and hat. Don't forget to bring your qualifying exam and be prepared for the 25 question pretest.
