POTPOURRI OF SPECIAL EVENTS SLATED FOR STATE PARKS IN AUGUST

Celebrations continue through late summer

Each month, Kansas state parks conduct special events, some in conjunction with Free Park Entrance Days, some to celebrate a special historical event or geological attribute of an individual park, and others just for entertainment. Each park sets its own dates for these events, including Free Park Entrance Days.

Events are diverse and may include anything from a marathon race to boating courses and equestrian events. Many are educational and all are designed to enhance the fun of visiting Kansas state parks.

For more information, visit the state parks events calendar . Among the state parks events planned for the coming months are the following:

Aug. 14-19 -- Rooks County Fair at Webster State Park;
Aug. 18-20 -- Lovewell State Park Campground Christmas at Lovewell State Park;
Aug. 19-20 -- Free Vehicle Entrance Weekend at Tuttle Creek State Park;
Aug. 19 -- Jackpot Buddy Bass LLC Fishing Tournament at Pomona State Park; and
