Water levels All major units, except Unit E, have good water. Boats, especially larger boats with more draft, may find it challenging to access some units. Unit E is supplied by runoff only and is still low, but has some huntable area.
Hunting/ Habitat conditions Vegetation condition (food production) ranges from fair to excellent, with an average of very good.  Note: some areas closed to snow goose hunting--see below.

NOTICE:  Portions of the wildlife area are CLOSED to snow goose hunting due to mowed grain crops.  Hunting over mowed crops is considered to be baiting and is illegal.  Maps of closed areas are posted in the check-in booth.  Fields in Unit D north of E1800 Rd remain closed until March 26.

Waterfowl hunters must register before hunting and report harvest after the hunt. Marais des Cygnes WA waterfowl hunters are required to register daily at headquarters before hunting and report harvest after the hunt (KAR 115-8-1). Notice: You must fill out reports completely and accurately. False reports will be prosecuted.

Outboard motors are restricted on this wildlife area and are allowed in Unit G and in the boat lane only in Unit A-East. Outboards are not allowed in any other wetland units. Electric trolling motors are unrestricted. Boats must be operated at wakeless speed.
