Fishing Report - Last Update: 11/20/2014
|Species||Rating||Size||Baits, Method, & Location|
|Crappie||Fair/Good||Up to 15 inches||Vertically fishing jigs, and small slab spoons over the fish attractors has been best. Overall number of fish caught has been low, but quality was excellent as fish ranged from 13 to 15 inches in length.|
|Walleye||Fair||Up to 28 inches||Anglers reported catching a few fish while crappie fishing. Vertically fish larger slab spoons over mainlake points and drop-offs should begin producing especially as the water cools down this fall.|
|White Bass/Wipers|| |
Whites up to 17 inches
Wipers up to 13 lbs.
|Vertically fishing slab spoons over mainlake points and drop-offs has been best. Anglers report catching relatively low numbers of nice quality white bass mainly in the 13 to 16 inch range with wipers up to 7 lbs. mixed in.|
|Rainbow Trout||Slow||0.5 lb. average||
We stocked 625 rainbow trout in the stilling basin on 10-31-2014.
Stillfishing powerbait, corn, worms, marshmallows, and combinations of these baits are popular and effective. Anglers casting small inline spinners and fly anglers fishing small nymphs and wet flies can be successful too.
Due to the recent cold snap, thermal stratification of the stilling basin was broken by fall turnover resulting in poor water quality. The trout bite has really slowed due to the stressful conditions associated with fall turnover. Trout fishing should improve as water quality improves, but this just takes time.
SURFACE ELEVATION- 2121.20'----22.80' below conservation
It is illegal to release fish into public water unless it was taken from that water. So please discard any leftover bait in a trash can.
