Fishing Report - Last Update: 8/7/2014

Species Rating Size Baits, Method, & Location
Crappie Slow/Fair Up to 14 inches Minnows, jigs, or small slab spoons fished over the fish attractors or over steep, deep drop-offs has been best.
Walleye Slow/Fair Up to 28 inches Anglers report catching a few fish while fishing for white bass and wipers.  Otherwise, there have been a few fish caught around the fish attractors vertically fishing minnows and shad or trolling crankbaits over mainlake points.
White Bass/Wipers

White bass-Good

Wipers-Good

Whites up to 17 inches

Wipers up to 13 lbs.

White bass-fish are still busting shad on the surface early and late, but they are not staying up as long or as predictable from day to day as they were several weeks ago.  That said, anglers able to locate surfacing schools are doing pretty well casting topwater or shallow running baits that imitate small shad.  Otherwise, drifting shad or minnows along points and drop-offs can be productive too.

Wiper-Drifting live shad or vertically fishing slab spoons over mainlake points, submerged roads, steep drop-offs, and around the fish attractors has been best.  Anglers report catching good numbers of fish that mainly range in size from 4 to 8 lbs.

It is illegal to release fish into public water unless it was taken from that water. So please discard any leftover bait in a trash can.
